Hi, everyone! I’m Charlotte Kupsh, a PhD student at UNL studying composition and rhetoric. I have an MA in writing and a BA in English and political science, and during my master’s degree, I was a graduate assistant director of the writing center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Working in a writing center for two years completely changed the course of my academic career! When I started my MA, I thought I wanted to focus on creative nonfiction, but as soon as I started learning about and engaging with writing center scholarship, I realized that’s where I wanted to be–I ended up deciding to pursue a doctoral degree in composition as a result.
I’m a Wisconsin native (I just got my Nebraska driver’s license this week, and I am upset), and I’m still settling in to life in Lincoln. I love the Midwest, and I’m happy to be here, but I do miss the upper Midwest quite a bit! Place is very important to me, and one of the things I’m thinking about for my dissertation is how place impacts education and identity.
